Our trip to Portugal was an unplanned event. We were never thinking about visiting this country until my wife got an invitation for a business trip there. So I joined her.
The most impressive memory is Cabo da Roca – the westmost edge of Europe:
Aqui, onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa… [Here, where the land ends and the sea begins…]
Luís de Camões, Os Lusíadas
The craziest idea was to swim naked on the wild beach of Cabo da Roca amongst rocks and cold waves of Atlantic Ocean in the beginning of May!
On the way back we had different flights and my flight was cancelled due to volcano ash. After 8 hours of waiting in the airport I came back to the hostel and spent 2 more days in Lisbon. These were the days I needed to be absolutely satisfied with this trip! On the last day of my trip Lisbon met the pope – Benedict XVI so I had a chance to see him and made a shot.
